Bug Boy
Trevor has always been the one that likes bugs. He is not normally afraid of them and will be the first one to run in and get me or Rick to see a really COOL bug!! This day was no exception. He found a cicada that wasn't just the outer shell, but the actual hatched bug. It hadn't made it, and was already up in Buggy Heaven, but Trevor still thought it was worthy of showing. I do have to admit it looked neat in his hand; however, much to Trevor's dismay I did not want it to remain on our kitchen table until Dad got home that night. It would be just fine hanging out in the garage until then.

Family Visit - The Ellis's
YAY... we had visitors. We LOVE visitors! We love it when they show up, we love it when they are here to talk to in the morning, we love it when we get to do things during the day with them, we love having "sleepovers" with our visitors! We love everything about having visitors EXCEPT when they have to leave us. That part is for the birds! But we enjoy what we can get and don't complain because then they won't come back and we definitely want people to come back to visit us!
This summer we were lucky enough to have my sister and her kids come visit us for 4-5 days last week. It was wonderful. We missed having my brother-in-law here, too, but we thought of him often and hopefully next year he can join in the fun. Once again, this year, it was HOT HOT HOT while they were here. We managed to beat the heat by visiting the pool 2 times almost every day they were here. We would go in the morning, come home to eat lunch, get naps in and then go back after dinner once it started to cool down a bit. We also played lots of video games inside in the afternoons, the older boys went golfing a couple times, we built a fort the kids to sleep in at night, went to see the new Ice Age movie and just hung out! Thank you Traci, Jake, Jordyn & Jackson for hanging out with us!

Jake was working on the dives and flips again this year... will he get the back flip in or have to wait another year... time will tell!

Ugh... 1 1/2 flip attempt gone bad. Jake was laughing before he even hit the water.

The sleeping fort! Cooper didn't sleep in here, but he thought it was the coolest thing to crawl under! And Jordyn took the "good" sleeping spot.... a bed all to herself away from the crazy boys! Smart girl, Jordyn!

Fun with Cousins in Branson
Earlier in July we were able to venture to Branson for a couple days to visit with Rick's Uncle Dan, Aunt Trish (that always sounds weird being that they are only a few years older than we are) and their 3 boys, Reese, Avery and Carson. We don't get to see them much, but all the boys instantly bonded and it was so fun to see them laughing and having fun together!!
We were only there for a day and a half, but we packed stuff into that time and the boys were tired when the trip was over. We took a ride on the railway into Arkansas (I think the boys wanted the train to go faster than it did), we went to a Yakov Dinner theater show, and then hit the fish hatchery and beach on the final day! Thanks so much for the fun time Dan and Trish. We are so happy it worked out that we could come visit you all!
Here's the crew that we took on the train... and thanks so much for walking ALL the way to the back so we could have the comfy seats, Dan! It was a great choice (Ha Ha)

The Fish Hatchery. It was HOT so we didn't spend too much time there.
The beach.... it did have water and a "beach" but the sand became rocks the closer you got to the water and was all rocks in the water. Kids didn't seem to mind, but our adult feet took a beating that day. And the sand was about 200 degrees when you tried to walk on it!
While Cooper took a nap, I braved the heat and took the boys mini-golfing at the resort. Reese was the smart one and stayed back in the cool, air conditioned room! We had fun though and after I got Carson to take "little swings" at the ball, everyone was a bit safer. And... he didn't have to go "off roading" as much to get his ball after it bounced off the edge of the playing area either. He had fun running in the grass to retrieve his ball several times! The round of golf was more of a get it in the hole and run type of round. The boys did not wait to take turns, we skipped the hole if the cup was cracked (that happened on 2 or 3 holes), if there was an incline and you didn't make it up, you could stop/hit your ball back up it mid-roll so that it didn't have to come all the way back down the hill, and we did not keep score! It was the fastest round of 18 holes of mini-golf I have ever played!

Carson loved Cooper! So fun to see the bonds that can happen in such a short time!

Cooper was wiped out after the beach. So he took a quick nap while I took the other boys mini-golfing.
Time to listen to a book... They lasted for almost the whole thing, then decided to venture by the big boys.

Trevor was wiped out and didn't even know that we had stopped for gas and gone through a drive through. He ate his food when we got home.

Downstairs Fun
In the heat this summer the boys spent a lot of time in the basement playing basketball or riding their "Flying Turtles". But that was just for Ethan and Trevor as Cooper didn't go down there much unless I was exercising. And if that was the case, he was put in his walker and tootled around in that. But this particular night we all went down there just to play.
Cooper had his first ride in the "car" and was able to explore more than ever in the basement. He LOVE IT!!

...but started liking it more as time went on...
... even more when he got to chase the big boys.
He started driving it himself by pushing backwards.

YAY... He loved the car!
He would hold on and push himself backwards and go flying around in a circle
A little blurry, but he was having so much fun and going so fast that I couldn't catch a good picture.
Then it was onto the bike. That was a bit big, but he was sure trying to get on!
Laughing at the boys and they would go whizzing by him!
And our dare devil, Trevor. He said, "Look at this cool trick, Mom" and I just about had a heart attack! Thankfully I didn't, but I did gain a few more gray hairs after watching him ride on his feet.
Sometimes the simplest nights end up being the most fun... and this was definitely one of those nights!

Just One of the Boys
Cooper loves to play with his brothers. He loves to roll around on the floor with anyone that is there and will pin you before you even know it! He really does adore his brothers and will play with them any chance he can. It's going to be a hard day when he's stuck with just Mom all day because his brothers are at school!
