Before printing out the blog book, I decided to go back and make sure I didn't miss anything since the blog was a hit or miss event during this time in our lives.... it is now January 31, 2014 and I am just getting to making the 2011 book.... bad, bad blogger!

What I Did (& Didn't Do) Today

Today was a day that will not earn me the Housewife of the Year Award
however....
it will earn me the Cherishing My Children Today Award

So.  Instead of taking care of this

or taking care of this

or finishing up the chore of folding this

I decided that I wanted to look at this
little ear

and this
hair line

and this
noonie that fits perfectly below this nose

 and these
little toes

and this
cute mouth

and these
tiny fingers

and finally this
peaceful, precious, little face of Cooper Davis

Not a very productive day, but one that I will never consider wasted!

The Big 5 for Trevor

Another year gone by!

Our baby - well, he's not our baby anymore so I guess I have to say our middle child - has turned 5.  The big 5!  A whole hand... full of fingers 5!

Trevor has changed a lot this year.  He's more independent yet at the same time still likes to have help some days so he pretends like he can't do it.  But most days he is a strong-willed, independent 5 year old.  Getting dressed on his own, liking to pour his own drinks, getting his own snacks, showering more than he is taking baths.  Loving sports, loving letter writing, loving animals and babies.  He is an amazingly wonderful BIG brother and a superb LITTLE brother.  Although, some days the little brother becomes that little brother who likes to annoy his big brother by pushing just the right buttons. ;)  He shows us new things - things that he thinks are "cool" - and feels so awesome when he can get his big brother to follow him to show him something.  He is tough!  He is very, oh so very talkative, yet can be the shyest little fellow when in a new situation.  He is sneaky (well, I'm not really sure that's the right word for it) - he knows answers to things, but will 'play dumb' about it.  For example, he will tell Ethan that the color of his crayon is blue, when he well knows that it is RED.  And he will continue the "No it's Blue" against Ethan until we intervene because Ethan is there saying, "Trevor, it's NOT blue, it's RED!"  and Ethan gets more and more mad as the discussion goes back and forth each time.  So, it's that kind of stuff that he does so very 'well' and knows EXACTLY what he is doing!  Sneaky... Sly.... just not sure what to call it.

But he is our sweetheart. He has a heart of gold.  He's fun-loving, silly, sweet, hilarious, smart, and as always, our miracle child!  We love you Trevor and hope you love being 5 as much as you did 4!

Kick-off of the NFL season TONIGHT with the Green Bay Packers.

My 1st Assignment

(catch up post #6)

Before Trevor even had his first day of Pre-K, he had his VERY 1st homework assignment to do.  His "All About Me" sheet that was to be taken back to school on the first day.  He was very excited to do his homework and was a good student to get it all done at the same time.

in case you can't see some of the answers, the paper reads:

My name is Trevor (he had to cut the letters out and paste them in the correct order)
I am years old.
My birthday is on September 19, 2006
I have 2 brothers and 0 sisters
My pets are Kelty (a dog)
I like to play the Wii, play outside, color & paint.
My favorite color is blue.
I want to be a professional baseball player when I grow up.

Lights Out Pow-Wow

(catch up post #5)

August 20th Rick and I woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of thunder and realized that the power had gone out.  Of course, since it was a storm, Trevor was making his way to our room while crying because of the thunder.  That time was 4:00am.  Not much later, Ethan was woken up by the noise as well and before we knew it all 4 of us (no, all 5 of us since it was time for Cooper to eat) were sitting in the living room with flashlights.  Ethan decided to go get a book and read to Trevor to help him calm down.  What were we to do - tell him "no"?  Of course not.  It was too sweet of a gesture and it was the weekend so we let him read at 4am... by flashlight!

I love how Trevor is yawning in this last one.... that's how we were all feeling!

do I look comfortable?

(Catch up post #4)

This is what Rick and I found upon going into the boys' room one night before we hit the sack.  I had to go get the camera and take a picture because Ethan would have never believed us if we told him he was sleeping like this....

Oh man... I don't even want to think about how sore we (adults) would be if we slept like this???

2011 - 2012 School Year has Begun

Catch up post #3

This year is a big year. We officially have 2 children in school now - as of August 16th.  Ethan has moved up to 1st grade & Trevor started all day, Pre-K at Holy Rosary, too.  It's fun to see them both excited for school and Ethan is more than ready to show Trevor the ropes of "how to do things" at their school.

Of course, before the first day we had to take our pictures on the porch...

And then we added to it this year by taking some out by our front tree.... the boys loved being able to climb in it before school.

And of course we needed one in front of school before going in
(don't pay attention to the fact that they have different clothes on in these pictures compared to the ones above.  I didn't make them wear multiple outfits on the first day ;o)  Rather I'm the bad mom who forgot her camera the first day & made them stand there one the 2nd day.)

And they both wanted a picture with their teachers.  Honestly, it was them who wanted these pictures, I did not push them to do these.  After seeing some of the other kids getting theirs taken on the first day they wanted some with the teachers too.  Good boys :)

Cooper - 2 months

Two months old.  It seems like longer than that.  We are getting a bit more sleep, but still having to wake in the night to feed just once.  Can't complain about that at only 2 months.  And he is going til much later in the night with that feeding. many nights he goes to bed around 10pm and doesn't need to eat again until 4am.  I can handle that!

He is settling in a bit, but still has his fair share of fussy times.  He is a very gassy baby and that is his issue most times.  Give him the gas drops and he is good to go for awhile! Cooper is starting to smile more and more each day.  Of course, the one that gets the most smiles out of him is Ethan.  Ethan has the patience to just talk to him and will try something over and over even if he's getting just the smallest smile out of Cooper.  It's fun to see the patience that he has with his little brother... I can only hope it continues as Cooper gets older and starts getting into his stuff ;o)

Cooper enjoys going in the stroller for walks. Many times he falls alseep, but other times he is wide awake, looking around and cooing at whomever will listen.  At his 2 month appointment today he was 9 lbs 15 ounces (13th percentile) and 22 1/4 inches (24th percentile).  Still on the small side compared to the other boys, but growing at a steady rate.  He loves to kick.  He has some wind chimes that can hang on his play mat or in the pack n play and he kicks aways.  And kicks. And kicks.  His feet must get sore from how much he is kicking them!  But he seems to enjoy it so kick away, Little Man, kick away!  He also has found his fingers.  He loves to look at them with this "wondering" look as if he's saying, "What are these things that are moving?  I don't know, but I'll suck on them anyway."  He has figured out how to get his one index finger in his mouth and then suck on it.  It's rather cute to see just that one finger, but after a few seconds I nicely remove it and give him a noonie if he wants something else to suck on.  No finger/thumb sucking for you, Cooper. Sorry.

Other than that, all is well.  He has been a joy and we are slowly getting into a new routine.  Till next month.
